10/31/11 Dry ice

Dry ice fogs up I think is because dry ice is ice frozen for a very long time and then when water pours over it the little wamth of the water makes it fog up. what really happens is that they make ice with only carbon dioxide and water and then when it heats up to like -88 it makes smoke. freezing (from liquid to solid) boiling (from liquid to gas) melting (from solid to liquid) sublimination (from gas to liquid) condencing (from solid to gas).

   Yesterday we learned about how the beach mice burrow into the dunes and help in all kinds of ways. There burrows help the plants stay healthy and they plant plants too. After we learned a little bit about them we played a game where we were the beach mice and we had to survive all these things.

   Today we went out into the dunes and planted some plants to keep the dune up so mice could live in them. It was hard to get around though because of all the stickers. It was OK though because we were helping the beach mice.
